Main Screen
New Project
Enter and save a project name to create a clean, empty inspection project. Use Add Image in the blank viewer or Add Images in the header to select one or more Ferret Thermal PNG files. Creating another project and adding the same PNG starts clean with no previous measurements.
Open Project
When logged in, search for and reopen an automatically saved inspection project with its original images, measurements, annotations and inspection settings. Each project shows a cover thumbnail. The most recently used project is also recovered automatically after a refresh or browser restart.
Add Images and Image Filmstrip
Use Add Image in a blank project or Add Images in the header to add Ferret PNGs to the current project. When a project contains multiple images, use the thumbnail filmstrip below the viewer to switch images or drag thumbnails into the preferred project order. Each image keeps its own measurements, annotations, palette, fusion, alignment and view position.
Automatic Project Saving
When logged in, project changes are saved automatically in the background. Switching images saves the image you are leaving before the next image is opened.
Deleting Projects and Images
Delete removes the selected project, its original images and all saved inspection work after confirmation. Use the X button on a filmstrip thumbnail to delete an individual image. The final image cannot be removed separately; delete its project instead.
Fit
Resize the thermal image to be full size. The thermal image can be zoomed and panned using the computer mouse or track pad.
Export as PNG
Saves the current view including any temperature measurements that have been set as a PNG file. Note that this saved PNG does not contain thermography data, it is simply an image.
Export Thermal Report
Opens the PDF Layout Builder in a new tab. The Single report style lets you choose up to three unique report components or measurement results. Comparison creates a two-page report for an ordered pair of project images. Multi-image adds a front page and one configurable content page for each project image. Best to enter My Account and Project Information before creating the report.
Log In / Log Out
When signed out, Log In opens the account login window. When signed in, your email address is shown here and the button changes to Log Out.
Functions
1 Thermal Fusion
Select full Visible, full Thermal or anything in between to give the desired image.
TISR (Thermal Image Super Resolution) can be selected from x1 (native 160x120 pixels) up to x16 (640x480 pixels).
2 Measurements
Point mode
Click any point on the image to check a spot temperature. Click, hold and move to relocate the spot. Double click over a spot to remove it. Use Clear All to remove every measurement. Once multiple spot temperature points are selected, the Delta-T will be shown in the right section. This will be for the most recent 2 x manual spot temperature points.
Rectangle, Circle and Polygon
Choose Rectangle or Circle, then click and drag over the area to measure. Choose Polygon for a free-form area, click each boundary point, then click the first point to close it. Drag an existing area to move it, or double click it to remove it. The maximum, minimum, average, range, standard deviation and measured pixel count are shown in the Measurements section. New results appear at the bottom of the list, directly above the selected result data. Edit the Label field to give the selected measurement a meaningful name. Double-click a result chart to switch between its histogram and line graph.
Line Profile
Choose Line Profile, click the start point, then click the end point. Drag an existing line to move it, or double click it to remove it. Each numbered line remains on the image and has a collapsible line graph in the measurement results list. Open a result to select it, then edit its Label field if needed. The newest area or line result opens automatically at the bottom of the list and earlier results collapse upward.
Comparing results
Select the comparison icon on an area or line result to add it to the comparison table. Up to two results can be compared at once. Selecting a third result replaces the earliest selected result.
Annotations
Use Arrow, Circle, Rectangle, or Freehand to mark findings on the image. Select an annotation to edit its label, description, or color, move it, or delete it. Press Escape to cancel drawing and Delete to remove the selected annotation. Annotations are included in PNG and PDF exports.
Max and Min
Will show on the image the hottest and coldest points.
3 Thermal Palette
Palettes
A range of thermal palettes are available to help highlight temperature differences.
Auto range/Manual Set
The manual setting allows you to move the palette minimum and maximum temperature levels. This can significantly better highlight temperature differences.
Isotherms & Temperature Alarms
Highlight temperatures above, below or between selected limits. The viewer reports the percentage of the image and each measured area that meets the active rule. Highlighting is included in annotated PNG exports but not the current PDF report.
4 Project Information
If using the Export Thermal Report function, Project Information can be set to show where and when the thermal image was taken. You can also set a Fault Rating and add project comments.
Press “Save” to save the data to the current project or “Clear Data” to remove it. In Guest Mode the project is stored only in this browser; when logged in, it is saved to your account project.
5 Image Management
Review the original filename, set the name shown and used when saving the current image, and add comments that apply only to that image.
6 My Account
If using the Export Thermal Report function, My Account can be used to set information including company logo, company name and other details. This information is saved if you have a login account to the Ferret Thermal Viewer App. There is no login to the Ferret Thermal App on your mobile device – this login is only for the Viewer App.
7 Settings
Thermal Layer Alignment
If there is an alignment mismatch between the visible and thermal layers, it can be aligned using the arrows.
Celsius/Fahrenheit
Select the unit of choice.
The above settings are saved with My Account if you have a Ferret Thermal Viewer App login.
